Cairns Cruise Ship Markets

Today I want to share with you an exciting new local market hosted by The Pier Cairns! Located at 1 Pierpoint Road, Cairns, QLD 4870

The Pier Shopping Centre is conveniently located next to the luxurious Shangri-La The Marina resort hotel, making it a perfect destination for both tourists and locals. It's also just a short walk from the Lagoon, the Esplanade, and the Cairns International Cruise Liner Terminal.

Locals and visitors alike are familiar with the long-running monthly markets held on the third Sunday of each month. This year, however, The Pier Cairns introduced 'Cruise Ship Markets' to meet the growing demand for daytime markets.

What I love most about these markets is there is always something interesting to buy that is handmade by Cairns locals. Earrings, Magnets, Souvenirs, Clothing, Bags, Hair Accessories, Home Decor and an abundance of art including paintings from local Indigenous artists.

The second thing is that it is an all weather venue! It doesn't matter if it's hot and sunny or pouring with rain, the indoor markets are always on in a comfortable air-conditioned centre.

If you're arriving in Cairns on a cruise ship and looking for the perfect spot with stunning views, vibrant local markets, and waterfront dining, be sure to check if your shore tour or excursion includes a stop at The Pier Cairns. If not, and you're able, it's just a short and easy walk from the ship.

Since cruise ships arrive sporadically at the Port of Cairns, it can be tricky to keep track of when these niche markets are on. That’s why I’m dedicating this blog entry to keeping you informed, at least a month in advance so you can plan your visit with ease!

Easy Squid Game Dalgona Candy Recipe (No Flame Method.)

□○☆* Last night I ended up helping my 11 Year old daughter to make the latest sweet trend inspired by the Squid Game series, using the available tools in our kitchen. [N.B. She has not seen Squid Game as it is rated MA however all her friends talk about it at school] We searched for some recipes but I wasn't about to use a ladle on a naked flame! So as I do, I played around to see what I could use with the existing equipment in my kitchen. ☆  Tip the smaller the frying pan the better. The mixture was so much easier when I switched to the  small 1 egg sized mini frying pan. (see video further down) There were a few fails. If you try this, don't despair at the wonky, burnt or set too fast ones. You must work quickly so naturally some  mishaps will occur. But after you get the hang of it the process becomes really easy!
