Free Printables : Birthday Party Kits

Image
Looking for party themed printables to add to your next birthday event? There are so many diy kits out in the land of Google! From themed invitations to themed labels to stick on party bags - it's all out there! There are loads of free ones as well as some with a small fee. Simply google "free party printables" Here's the one I used for my daughter's Dora themed birthday a couple of years ago from  Sherry K Designs . There are so many designs to choose from,  including Dora the Explorer,  Tinkerbell, and Angry Birds. Be sure to click on the links to check them all out!  sherykdesigns.com  As you can see in the next photo,  back then I had no idea how to use fondant so I improvised and used a toy as my topper and simple buttercream piping for my daughter's birthday cake.   Sherry K Designs helped me to print out cupcake toppers that I glued on to toothpicks, bunting flags and so much more! So there you have it! Another valuable do it

Cheap Fondant / Gumpaste Flower Former

Image
My Quick Christmas Eve Tip Why spend extra money on special flower formers when you probably have the best alternative sitting in your kitchens! Idea #1 Use silicone cake pop pans as flower formers. Or in my case today, Holly formers! Idea #2 Use paint pallets. But when you buy them only ever use them for food use and never cross contaminate with not edible craft. I buy mine from Spotlight at approximately $5 per pack of 10. Do you have any other cheap tips? Share ♡  Inspire  ♡  Motivate :: Home Bakers Doing it for Themselves.

Easy Rum Balls Recipe with Variations

Image
It's the Christmas season and everyone I know is making rum balls!!! Okay not everyone but it certainly does appear that way on my facebook and Instagram newsfeed! We have a tradition in our family to make anything goes balls. What's that you ask? Well it's pretty much using what ever liquor we have in the house. I don't drink rum so don't want to waste money just for a few tablespoons.  (You know I like saving money! ) Past Christmas balls making we've used Frangelico,  Baileys,  Kahluha, and this year it looks to be Chamfords Raspberry Liqueur.   All very yummy but the key is not to put too much liquor in! If you put too much you're really just making chewable rum, it overpowers all the other flavours and you forget about the other delicious ingredients like coconut and chocolate. Traditional rum balls were made from left over fruit cake, add a bit of rum and much like our cake balls/ pops of today you mashed it together and made ba

Homemade Ice Cream The Easy Way!

Image
Omgosh yum!  Dessert at my place tonight was the easiest homemade ice cream ever! I just had to share! Ingredients: 1 frozen banana 1 packet frozen strawberries 1 large Frozen red paw paw from my favorite neighbor. 200ml of cream (could've been real naughty and used sweetened condensed milk but the kids are hypo enough tonight!) *And yes you could leave the cream out but it's yummiest with it! Method: I just chucked it all into the food processor and blasted it until it was smooth!  Why not try it with your favourite fruits? ! Something yummy on a summer night! x Share ♡  Inspire  ♡  Motivate :: Home Bakers Doing it for Themselves.

Quick Egg Free Gingerbread Recipe

Image
Just made some quick non gingerbread cookies with the kids. They are not my favourite recipe but they are egg free so I let the kids go silly eating the raw dough as we go! :) (they are also not a fan of ginger so I left it out and put 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract instead.) I am not sure how we will decorate this batch, I like using meringue powder to make royal icing (again with the raw egg consciousness in mind, I only use pasteurisrd powdered egg whites ) or maybe something a little bit easier and kid friendly like melted chocolate to glue on m&m's and currants, or even easier (because I have no lollies in my pantry today!) Cut out bits of coloured fondant. My plan is, over the next few days to test out a couple of different recipes for you and then have one blog post devoted to the icing methods I used. So here we go, Gingerbread Recipe #1 Preheat oven to 180°C Ingredients: 2/3 cup soft brown sugar 60g butter 4 tablespoons golden syrup 2 cups plain flou
